The Clean Energy Conversions Lab is primarily located in the Pennovation Lab building, located at 3401 Grays Ferry Ave. We also have office space on main campus at Kleinman Center, in the Fisher Fine Arts Building in the Research Suite, Room #302. Our instrumentation and equipment includes that which is housed at the Pennovation Lab site and a wide range of equipment across Penn community.

  • Autosorb IQ (Quantachrome / Anton Paar) automated gas sorption analyzer (surface area, pore size)
  • VStar2 (Quantachrome / Anton Paar) vapor sorption analyzer
  • Mastersizer 3000 laser diffractometer (particle size distribution) with dry sample introduction unit
  • Carbolite Gero furnace (30 ˚C to 3000 ˚C)
  • Parr manual pellet press
  • Aalborg gas mass flow controllers

  • Parr 600 mL stainless steel pressure vessel equipped with port enabling reaction monitoring via Raman probe
  • Milli-Q IQ7005 water purification unit
